Young 7-y-o goes out of his way to thank a police officer

Today marks a very proud moment as a Dad. Allow me to introduce to you, Ryan Fiduccia. Knowing nothing about modern-day corruption or what’s happening in the news lately, little Ryan took it upon himself to say ‘thank you’ to a random stranger in uniform.
While shopping together at a local Home Depot, Ryan saw a police office sitting inside his car in the parking lot. As we walked outside the store towards our car, I could see him looking in the officer’s direction, eventually asking me: “what do you think he’s doing?” My response was a simple one: “he’s keeping us safe”.
As we were getting ready to leave, Ryan asked me if we can get out and say hi to the officer, to which I happily obliged. So together we walked up to the officer’s window and Ryan, without hesitation, simply said: “thank you for everything you do to keep us safe.”
The officer thanked us for stopping by, wished us a Merry Christmas, and we were on our way.
Regardless of what you believe…and regardless of race, gender, or political motivation…don’t let a few bad apples spoil a bunch. I’m asking you to see law enforcement through a child’s eyes. See them as ordinary men, women, fathers, and mothers who chose a dangerous career because they wanted to make a difference and keep the world safe .
So perhaps when you see them patrolling your neighborhood, you can take a cue from little Ryan. A simple ‘thanks’ can go a very long way.
Thank you sir Ryan. May we ALL follow in the Footprints you are leaving behind.
