Today in history: Christopher Reeves

December 22, 2014

While September 25 may be a somber milestone, it is a time to celebrate the legacy and contributions of one man’s birthday: Christopher Reeve.

Christopher was born on this very day in 1952. He had various stage and television roles before becoming universally known as the star of Superman and its sequels (1978, 1980, 1983, 1987).

Due to a tragic horse-riding accident In May 1995, Reeve became paralyzed from the neck downwards. He subsequently became very involved in campaigns supporting handicapped children and paraplegics, and founded the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation in 1998. Sadly Mr. Reeve’s final goodbye was on October 10, 2004.

Christopher: thank you for showing the world that NOTHING is impossible. Today, we will celebrate your life, and your legacy. Happy Birthday to you.
