If you’ve ever had anything stolen before, be it money, a personal heirloom, or even a favorite toy, you know how it makes you feel.
Violated. Angered. Sad. Heartbroken. And devastated.
Those are just some of the emotions a young pre-teen named Bryce was feeling recently after his prized collection of Pokemon cards were stolen recently.
The 9-year-old Cleveland resident began collecting Pokemon cards when he was only 6 years old. Bryce even keeps them protected in a binder and often trades cards with his friends.
When Bryce was walking to a friend’s house recently, another boy snatched the collection from his hands and ran away.
Bryce’s mom called the Cleveland police, who sent in Officers James Grotenrath and Ken Kirk to investigate.
They were successful in locating the thief and recovering the binder, but some of the Pokemon cards went missing.
Realizing Bryce was still saddened at the loss of the cards, Officer Grotenrath decided to take action even after the investigation was over.
Grotenrath was once a collector of Pokemon cards as well, amassing quite the collection along with some of the rarest cards in the world. So he went home that evening, pulled his collection from storage, and presented it back to Bryce.
Needless to say, Bryce was over-the-top excited to receive such a kind and unexpected gesture.
As for the older boy who first stole his collection, Officers say he was reprimanded, but no charges were filed for the theft.
